Local Attractions

Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park

The Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park stretches for 120 kilometres along the coast between Cape Naturaliste (near Dunsborough) and Cape Leeuwin (near Augusta). Features of the park include rugged sea cliffs, windswept granite headlands, surfing and swimming beaches.

Bunker Bay

Bunker Bay is protected by the rocky promontories of Cape Naturaliste. The white sand beach is north-facing and sheltered. Try your luck at catching a herring, whiting or skippy or catch a wave at The Farm, the local surf break. Perfect for families, this bay also offers access to spectacular marine life just offshore. Popular with scuba divers and snorkellers alike. Located within the Margaret River region, Bunker Bay is close to some of Australia's finest vineyards, restaurants, craft stores and art galleries.

HMAS Swan Dive Wreck

It took hundreds of volunteers nearly 12 months and more than 10,000 hours of hard labour to prepare the former Destroyer Escort HMAS Swan for scuttling as a dive wreck and artificial reef near Dunsborough in Western Australia. Then, with the push of a button, it was over in just two minutes and fifty three seconds, but really this was just the beginning of the Swan's new life. For those wishing to dive the Swan from a private boat there is an access permit needed. A small fee is payable, the money raised goes towards the cost of ongoing maintenance of moorings, navigation lights and the site. On purchasing your permit, you will be issued with the guidelines for the use of moorings and diving the site. Please use the moorings that have been placed around the site; anchoring is not permitted for safety reasons.

Simmo's Ice Creamery & Fun Park

Situated on a rural setting just five kilometres from Dunsborough, Simmo's Ice Creamery and Fun Park has become one of those 'must see' places when visiting the region. Every morning, fresh milk and cream is delivered to the famous Simmo's Ice Creamery, then pasteurised with eggs, sugar and secret ingredients. You can't get much fresher than that!

Sugarloaf Rock

Sugarloaf Rock is another example of striking coastal scenery and one of the area's most photographed landmarks. Located in the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, it is an impressive formation that dominates the coastline near Cape Naturaliste. For experienced rock fishermen there is excellent fishing but amateurs are warned that it can be dangerous. It is the only known nesting site in the southwest of the Red-tailed Tropicbird.
